Care Guide
How best to care for your Rachel Stichbury Custom Jewellery piece.
To prolong the life of your jewellery avoid swimming or playing sports with your jewellery on, chlorine and salt water can cause damage to all metals and can erode metals over time. Always remove rings (or wear gloves) when you’re cleaning or gardening. Never use metal polish/cleaners or abrasive cloths on your jewellery.
Sterling silver - Sterling silver tarnishes when exposed to salty air, chlorine, sulphur, humidity, perspiration, cosmetics and cleaning products/chemicals. To prevent tarnish it is recommended you remove your jewellery when doing any of the above.
Gold plating - Your gold plated piece of jewellery has a thin layer of 14 carat gold on top of solid sterling silver. This gold plating will eventually wear off over time. Exposure to water, cosmetics, hair products, perfumes and chemicals can accelerate this process.
If your jewellery does become in need of re-plating please do get in touch for a quote :)
Cleaning - To clean your special piece of jewellery simply use diluted mild detergent in luke warm water. Leave to soak for up to 5 minutes. Rinse your jewellery in water and dry with a clean soft cloth - for example a jewellery polishing cloth or micro fibre cloth (do not use a paper towel as they can be abrasive).
